Thermo excess acoustical parameters such as excess internal Pressure(?E), excess enthalpy (HE) and excess free volume (VfE) have been measured from experimentally measured values of densities(?),ultrasonic velocities(u) and viscosities(?) in binary liquid mixtures containing aniline with toluene at temperatures T=(303.15,308.15,313.15 and 318.15)K. These results are fitted to the Redlich-Kister polynomial equation.These results have been explained on the basis of intermolecular interactions in liquid mixtures.

The present study dealt with antioxidant activity, minerals profile and antimicrobial activity of Azadirachta indica (neem), Allium sativum (garlic) and Cinnamomum zeylanicum (cinnamon) extracts. Total phenolic compound was higher in A. indica (279.64 ±17.34 mgGAE/100g) moderate in A. sativum (40.80 ± 2.91 mg GAE/100g) and lower in C. zeylanicum (11.66 ± 1.76 mg GAE/100g) similar in case of flavonoids content. Antioxidant activity and free radical scavenging was assessed in vitro using FRAP, DPPH, ABTS free radicals and\nCopper chelating activity, Iron chelating activity, Superoxide scavenging and Hydroxyl scavenging. The results revealed all plants extracts have strong antioxidant and free radical scavenging activity due to presence of phenolic and flavonoids content. In order to verify the\nantimicrobial activity of all the plant extracts, two bacterial strains, Pseudomonas sp. and Aeromonas hyrophila were isolated from unhealthy tilapia. Among all, ethanolic extract of A. indica showed maximum inhibition against both strains after 48 hours. A. sativum was found to moderate and C. zeylanicum least in action. It was concluded that garlic, cinnamon and\nneem have strong antioxidant and antimicrobial activity and could be used in pharmaceutical formulation against various human health disorders.

In this study 3 pesticide residue levels that is used in agricultural spraying in apple samples that were harvested in 2014 harvest season and kept in cold storage depots in Karaman province, were examined by Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometer (GC-MS) and Gas Chromatography- Flame-Ionisation Detector (GC-FID) method. The samples that were taken from 6 different cold storage depots in the region at 5 different time zones, were kept in laboratory in refrigerator at +4 oC. The residue levels of diazonin and carbofuran medicines in apple samples were determined. In order to identify medicine residues at least three apple samples that were chosen randomly, were homogenized by homogenizator. In extract of samples QuEChERS method was used since it is fast, easy, cheap, effective, certain and reliable method. The residues of pesticides were taken from this homogenate with acetonitrile and given to GC-MS equipment in a suitable way. According to obtained results, methidathion and parathion-methyl pesticides types that are forbidden in Turkey, were determined in great majority of samples. According to Turkish Food Codex (TGK) regulation of captan, the maximum residue limit is 3 mg/kg. All of the samples that can be detected were found to exceed the limit values allowed.

In the contrast of biometric feature, facial recognition is a technique applied in many applications: telemonitoring, access to restricted areas, unlocking of electronic systems, etc. In this context, this contribution proposes a facial recognition, based on the robust hybrid method with the variations of position and luminosity for real-time applications. The proposed method has a tolerance of ±1 % to variations in position with variable lighting conditions. The proposed method elaborates the local features (LBP, HOG, Gabor wavelet) and global features (DWT, PCA) of face both. The texture features defines face feature very precisely and it is invariant of illumination of face picture. Further this features trained with neural network classifier to obtained better accuracy nearly 99.40% with single image training from each class. The designed is tested with FERET, Yale B dataset, and found satisfactory results.

Critical thinking, as the unity of cognitive skills and emotional and motivational dispositions of an individual, is recognized as one of the key professional competences. For this reason, it should be explicitly and implicitly included in undergraduate studies. In our study, we wanted to research whether there were differences in critical thinking skills among the students entering the faculty, concerning some of their socioeconomic and educational characteristics, whether there were differences in critical thinking skills among students of two courses of study, as well as differences in critical thinking among the first-year and third-year students of each course of study, because the results could show the effects of courses of study on the ability of the graduates in this respect. For this purpose, we designed Critical Thinking Assessment Test and applied it to 100 university students. Among the most important conclusions of the research we should emphasize that there were significant differences between the scores of the first-year students in relation to completed secondary school, that there were no differences in critical thinking among the first-year students of two courses of study, that these differences in the third-year students were significant, and that the first-year and third-year students of two courses of study practically showed no progress in critical thinking skills (except in one sub-test). Final conclusion would be that it would be necessary to introduce in both courses of study more specific content and different teaching styles, which would explicitly and implicitly encourage individual skills and critical thinking among students in general.

In recent times the lifetime of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) has attracted many researchers. As a result, many power aware algorithms have been designed with different strategies. These strategies are based on time scheduling techniques, Delay bound constraints, Data adoption techniques, Data aggregation, Mobile sinks, Query based approach, and Management of spare nodes depending on the levels of their residual energies. All the mentioned approaches are implemented simulators. Results obtained in terms of life extensions with simulators and practical deployments have shown major deviations. Lifetime extensions obtained with practical deployments is far less than that obtained with simulations, using the same strategies. Investigations have shown that a lower lifetime with practical deployment is due to premature exhaustion of the sensor node’s battery. The three important reasons for the early death of the battery is found to be an improper selection of sampling interval, the effect of the environment of sensor field, and transmitting the sensed data with improper transmission power level. In this paper, a practical approach is adopted to understand the impact of different transmission power levels on the lifetime of the sensor node and hence the wireless sensor network. In the process, an optimum value of the transmission power level of data packets is found out. With the optimized transmission power level, an 18% improvement in the lifetime of the sensor node has been achieved.

Non-intrusive EEG sensors collect brainwave data from both normal learners and ones with auditory hallucination while they are performing logic reasoning. The collected brainwave data is first transformed into frequency domain for calculating its energy band distribution and parsed using characteristic band encoding technique, then analyzed to compare difference between normal learners and those with auditory hallucination.

Casting defects cause loss of time for reworked items as well as loss of scrapped material. In sand casting, there are many parameters with interrelated complex interactions which have effects on the quality of the product. Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) are widely used for modeling the processes in casting industry; but possible detection of the significant parameters before the application of an ANN should bring an advantage to obtain more accurate results—possibly in a shorter duration of time. Decision Trees (DT) can also be used to reduce the whole data set with respect to significant parameters. It is expected that the reduced data will yield a more efficient use of ANN to optimize casting parameters. Simulated data has been generated to compare the performance of the pure application of ANN versus a hybrid approach of DT and ANN. It can be observed that the hybrid approach gives a slightly better result than the pure ANN approach in terms of coefficient of determination (r-squared). The number of iterations required for the hybrid approach is much less than that of the pure ANN approach owing to the efficiency due to incorporation of the decision trees.
