Ecological Infrastructure as a Realizable Basis for Sustainable Development

Alexei Tetior

The concept of ecological infrastructure, which can serve as a foundational element for sustainable development, was introduced by A. Tetior in 2003. This infrastructure encompasses a wide range of urban, regional, global, and cosmic elements, both natural and man-made, that support the environmentally sustainable preservation of human habitats. The system includes frameworks of knowledge, actions, and decisions aimed at maintaining the resilience of socio-ecological systems, promoting ecological education, conserving living environments, and fostering ecological balance. By reducing the negative impacts of human activities on natural ecosystems, increasing resource efficiency, and prioritizing renewable resources, ecological infrastructure facilitates a gradual transition to negentropy technologies. This approach offers a more pragmatic pathway to creating high-quality environments, potentially replacing the less feasible concept of traditional sustainable development.
