BothQa (poetic) of Story and Parables in the Third Volume of Masnavi

Maryam Mahmoodi, Iran Nasseri Sisakht

Masnavi, a Gnostic masterpiece from the seventh century, stands as a cornerstone of Persian literature. It is renowned for its timelessness, achieved through its narrative language, simplicity, and profound meanings expressed via stories and parables. This enduring work by Molana, underscored by historical documents, is believed to be a product of divine inspiration rather than human contemplation. Molana likens the inspirational meaning to a fetus, with Masnavi's couplets representing the newborn. These states of neglect, laxity, frenzy, peace, and kindness are reflected in Molana's works, particularly in Masnavi, making it comprehensible across linguistic and cultural boundaries. This paper reviews selected stories from the third volume of Masnavi, exploring the types and poetics of stories, along with some structural characteristics and story elements.
