New Culture Shocks and Possible Solutions: A Book Report on Culture Shock

In the article Culture Shock, the term refers to a psychological disorder that occurs when individuals are exposed to a new environment. The impact of culture shock can vary from mild uneasiness to severe depression, as noted by Oberg in 1960. The process is divided into five stages. Initially, individuals experience fascination and excitement due to the novelty, but ultimately, during the 're-entry shock', they may suffer from a loss of self-confidence and forget the initial attractions of the new environment.
