Evaluating Student Assessment Methods: A Comparative Analysis of Test Types

Yerlan Ismailov, Aissulu Kaldarova

Assessing student knowledge is a critical component of the educational process, influencing how students approach learning and perceive their academic progress. This paper explores the advantages and disadvantages of various test types, including multiple choice, true/false, and open-ended formats, in evaluating student learning outcomes. Through a survey conducted across diverse educational settings, this study examines the efficacy of different assessment methods. The findings suggest that open-ended tests, such as essays and short answers, may provide a more accurate measure of student understanding by reducing the likelihood of random guessing. These results underscore the importance of selecting appropriate assessment types to enhance educational outcomes and student engagement.
